HUMM VS. APPLE DICTATION
Bottom line: Apple Dictation is free and privacy-respecting — it runs on-device and requires no subscription. But it is Apple-ecosystem only, produces literal transcription without any AI formatting, cannot remove filler words, and has no translation capability. Humm is the professional upgrade: it turns your raw speech into polished prose, supports 100+ languages including Indic languages, and auto-pastes formatted text into any app on any platform.

THE KEY LIMITATION OF APPLE DICTATION
Apple Dictation transcribes what you say — exactly as you said it. If you say "um so like I wanted to um tell you that the meeting is at um three", Apple Dictation writes that verbatim. Humm's formatting pipeline produces: "I wanted to tell you that the meeting is at 3." For professional communication — emails, Slack messages, documents, client notes — the difference is significant.
Apple Dictation also has no path to translation. If you think in Hindi and need to write in English, you must either dictate in English (limiting your natural expression) or manually translate after dictating. Humm handles both steps in a single flow.
